Fall Family Pictures

Well it's that time of year again. Brooke and I went the day before and took pictures of her. I knew she wouldn't want to hold still very long so I went with her and we took our time getting some pictures. Here are her pictures:

Every time I look at this picture below it makes me want to laugh!

I really like this one below but it's a little blurry. I just want to squish her cheeks!
And Casey:

And of course I changed my mind and chose this picture instead of the other one I took of him awhile back. I liked the background much better and wanted them all to match...so anyway...
And now for the blurps:
This is Brooke's gangster look Brooke trying to escape the mob
The men:

I don't know what Brooke was trying to do but this picture makes me laugh. And Casey's bug eyes, he did that in a lot of pictures, I didn't put them all up but needless to say we had a lot of goofy pictures!

It was weird taking a picture without kids! So easy!
And last but not least, our ONE good picture. This was seriously the last picture we took. We saw it and said good enough! No one is doing anything crazy so let's go home! haha...until next year

And some good news finally in regard to our house situation...we dug our hole last week and poured footings. The foundation was supposed to get poured today but of course it had to snow in good old Cache Valley. But we have at least started! Yeah!

Small and Simple Things

Some may call these small and simple things, others may call some of them tender mercies, I tend to call them perfect moments. Now let me explain. I have debated off and on about writing about these "perfect moments" because I don't want to to come across sounding the wrong way, or getting too personal. This a glimpse into my mind and happens to be somewhat personal, but I feel like I should share it. These perfect moments can bring me through to the next hour, day or month.

Life can be crazy, not can be, IS. There are ups and downs and throw you arounds. There are really good days, and really not. But good or bad I love to mentally make a note of perfect moments in my day, or whenever the thought arises. But I always have in the back of my head to look for perfect moments. These are moments that you could live in forever, or would want to relive when your a grandparent and your kids are moved out, or you find life is so precious it is a perfect moment.

These perfect moments are meant to be simple. Some perfect moments can be for a split second. Like when your kids are playing well together, or when it's just you and your spouse driving in a car, singing to music. Or when your madly fixing dinner and everyone wants to eat NOW, that can be a perfect moment (if you let it be) because you have kids, they are healthy, your family is home with you, you have a home, you have food.

All the time I have adults with teenagers, or grandparents come up to me at church or football games or the grocery store and say hi to my kids and say "cherish these times". I do. I cherish them and one way I do this is to point out to myself these perfect moments, even if things aren't so perfect.

So now that I have just poured out my heart to you and am glad no one is hear to see me cry I am going to show you some pictures of a few of my perfect moments.

We moved Brooke, now 20 months, into a toddler bed. The night after Peter set it up her and Casey played in there forever. There was no fighting and you could hear them giggling. As you can see a lot of balls were involved.

The sound of laughter in your kids

Casey is wearing his preschool t-shirt because that day he went on a field trip with his preschool. They went on a hay ride, train ride, and saw lots of cool Halloween stuff. I of course left my camera on the counter and so have no pictures to show of it!

Sibling love

My grandma has a gazillion apples from an apple tree. We have a bunch of them in a basket in the hall that the kids can grab out of and eat. Here Brooke is taking her share in her onezie.

Casey loves to build me things out of blocks and then I display it in my room. Here is one of Casey's creations. I didn't know he had taken a picture of it until I was going through the sim card.

A Child's Art

I dont' know who is enjoying it more! We made shakes one night and Brooke had about 3 cup fulls before we stopped giving them to her. She loved it!

Family...Grandparents

One night on our way home Casey pointed out the car window to a cloud in the sky and said, "mom look, it looks like a dragon or snake." I looked and sure enough it really did! So we hurried home to grab the camera. We got outside to take a picture of the awesome cloud and Casey said, "mom, it looks different". It had totally moved in just a short time but I let him take a picture anyway.

And last but not least here is a perfect moment that lasted for awhile! So our neighbors that I grew up with have horses as well. They were out riding their horses when a guy said they were welcome to ride through these fields. In all of my growing up years we have never been allowed on these fields. So they took advantage of his offer and ran through the fields on their horses. We saw them outside and I instantly wanted to do it. My sister was there but is 7 months pregnant and couldn't possibly do it. I ran in the house and got my hubby. We saddled up the horses and RAN through the fields. It was such a rush. All I could think of was how fast I was going and I can't fall off, and I'm beating my hubby, and I feel like runaway bride! To his credit though his horse doesn't know how to RUN. It more of gallops fast and awkward. He is much more a kids horse and mellow. My horse has an attitude. Anyway...that was a perfect moment for me. I love riding horses and to top it off I was with my hubby and we were running free! I have always wanted to do that after watching Runaway Bride. Below is a picture of the field we ran through. However our horses are majorly out of shape and didn't last long at that speed.
Doing what you love, with someone you love

We all have our perfect moments. But what makes them so special is when you point them out and the spirit you feel at that moment. Sometimes I hate to point them out to myselft because it makes me almost want to cry. I hope this wasn't too soap-boxy or something, and now that you all know what I do...how embarassing! But I brought it on myself and really felt like I should do this post despite my better judgement. I just know that pointing out these moments makes my days brighter and if this post helps someone to see their day brighter than my purpose has been served.
